Day 22

“For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.” - Romans 8:3-4 (NIV)

Are you familiar with the Old Testament? If so, I’m sure you know that before God sent His one and only Son Jesus Christ into the world to die for our sins and be the Ultimate Sacrifice, people were making sacrifices left, right, and center.

As humans, we have a sinful nature. In the Old Testament, every time someone sinned, they would make a sacrifice to God for forgiveness. This led to a lot of sacrifices and ultimately God realizing that we cannot save ourselves. We cannot live a perfect, sinless life. So He sent someone who could. He sent His one and only Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to teach us The Way, to live a perfect, sinless life, to be the Lamb, the Ultimate Sacrifice to atone for our sins once and for all, so that through Him we no longer face death from our sins but have eternal life.

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for sending your Son to do what I could never. For saving each and every one of us. Thank you Jesus for bearing the weight of our sins so that we can have eternal life with you in Heaven. Thank you for paying the ultimate price. Help me Lord to reflect your light and love into this world and into the lives of others, so they too may accept you as their Lord and Savior and Your free gift of eternal salvation. In Jesus’s name I pray, Amen.
