Day 1

“The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.” - Romans 8:5-6 (NIV)

Who are you letting control your thoughts? Romans 8:6 says, “The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.” When our mind is set on the Spirit, our life & actions are aligned with God’s will for us. We live life full of God’s Peace and Presence. But when our minds are governed by the flesh, it leads to negative emotions and ultimately sin.

The mind is a spiritual battlefield. Do not let the devil control your thoughts for it leads to anxiety, worry, and fear which steals away joy and a sound mind. If you begin to experience any of these negative emotions, fix your eyes on Jesus. Ask Him to renew your mind and place your trust and faith in Him and not your circumstances.

Think back to Peter when Jesus called him out onto the water. By keeping his eyes fixed on Jesus, though the waves and storm crashed all around him, Peter was able to stay calm and walk on water. It was only when Peter shifted his focus to the storm and let negative thoughts creep in - doubt, fear, and worry - that he began to sink, until Jesus rescued him, asking Peter why he doubted. “You of little faith.” (Matthew 14:31) Your circumstances may change but Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8) When waves are crashing around you, fix your eyes on Him.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I seek a mind governed by your Spirit. In the midst of a world filled with distractions and competing voices, help me set my mind on what the Spirit desires. Grant me the discernment to embrace life and peace, choosing the path that leads to You. May the transformative power of Your Spirit shape my thoughts and guide me into a deeper understanding of Your will. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
